Tuesday, July 9 at 3:30 PM: Power has been restored at some communities. Please check for the latest location-specific updates below.

 

Monday, July 8 at 5 PM: Hurricane Beryl was downgraded to a Tropical Storm as of about 10:00 a.m. CDT, but still poses a risk later this evening or tonight to our Meadowview Place community in Nacogdoches and our Parkview on Hollybrook community in Longview. Both communities have onsite generators. Our focus remains on keeping our residents safe and secure.

Communities Currently Impacted:

Conservatory At Alden Bridge: Power is out; however, a generator will be in place by late tonight/early tomorrow morning to power portable AC units, phones, oxygen tanks and other emergency needs. Our residents and team members remain safe and secure.

Conservatory at Champion Forest: Power is out; however, generators are up and running to power portable AC units, phones, oxygen tanks and other emergency needs. Our residents and team members remain safe and secure.

Discovery Village Clear Lake: Power is out; however, generators are up and running to power portable AC units, phones, oxygen tanks and other emergency needs. There was some water intrusion. Residents affected by water intrusion will be relocated to other apartments in our community. All residents and team members remain safe and secure.

Morada Deer Park: As of 5:30 AM 7/9/24, Power has been restored to the community. There are some downed trees and fencing on the Independent Living property.

Morada Friendswood: Power has been restored to the community.

Morada Cy-Fair: Power remains out; however, generators are in place to power portable AC units, phones, oxygen tanks and other emergency needs. There has been some minor damage to some roof tiles.


Monday, July 8 at 1 PM:
At this time, Conservatory At Champion Forest, Morada Friendswood, Morada Cy-Fair, Discovery Village Clear Lake, Morada Deer Park and Conservatory At Alden Bridge are without power; however, generators are in place in these communities to power portable AC units, phones, oxygen tanks and other emergency needs. Our residents and team members remain safe and secure. Please check back for continued updates.


Monday, July 8 at 9 AM: Hurricane Beryl made landfall around 4:00 AM local time as a Category 1 hurricane. A few of our communities have lost power in the greater Houston area, including Conservatory At Champion Forest, Morada Friendswood, Morada Cy-Fair and Discovery Village Clear Lake. Generator power is running or will be shortly at all communities affected.

Overall, our residents and team members are safe and secure as Beryl continues its northeastern path. We will continue to post updates here and on our community Facebook pages as updates arise.


Sunday, July 7 at 2 PM: The storm is tracking to make landfall between Corpus Christi and Houston this evening or early tomorrow, potentially as a category, 1 hurricane.

Our focus remains on preparedness efforts to keep our residents safe in possibly affected communities. Additional staffing is in place to be on hand through Monday evening when hazardous conditions are expected to abate. At this time, there are no evacuation orders in place. As always, we will continue to communicate updates here and on our community Facebook pages.

We have great confidence in our preparations and storm readiness and remain committed to the safety of our residents, team members, and communities through this storm.


Saturday, July 6 at 10 pm: We continue to watch the storm’s path closely as it continues to move eastward toward the Texas coastline. Our focus remains on preparedness efforts to keep our residents safe in possibly affected communities. Preparations include stocking food and water supplies and ensuring all generators are functional with additional fuel on hand. Our generator, portable AC, charter bus, and remediation vendors have all been contacted related to the priority needs of our communities.

Additional staffing is in place at each possibly affected community to be on hand through the storm with a focus on Sunday evening through Monday evening when hazardous conditions are expected to abate. Community leaders have communicated to residents and family members related to emergency plans and are safeguarding residents by sheltering in place. As always, we will also continue to post updates on our community Facebook pages.

With incredible effort from our community team members and our strategic partnerships, our community operations have been fully restored.

We are aware many of you have been with families who received power sooner. We are asking that you return tomorrow any time after 10 AM. If your loved one was receiving care, please contact the care company prior to returning. Residents should check in with the Concierge at the front desk upon return to ensure they are registered as returning to the community.

We are incredibly grateful for the support of all our residents, their families and our team members during this difficult time. Through it all we were still able to share a lot of love. 7/13/24 – 10:30 AM: Power is starting to come back on in our area. Our teams are working diligently to check all community systems to ensure they are operating properly. We will provide an update when we are confident power has been fully restored.

7/11/24 – 10:30 AM: We are happy to report power was restored last night at 8:45 p.m. to the entire community. Special thanks to all of our dedicated Clear Lake Team Members who worked tirelessly before, during and after the storm to ensure our residents were safe, secure and as comfortable as possible until power returned.

7/10/24 – 7:00 PM: Generator update: Our Clear Lake, Assisted Living building currently has a working generator; however, we are still working to get the two generators in Independent Living operational. To accommodate in the interim, Independent Living has cooling station areas on each floor with small portable generators and portable AC. The team is working tirelessly and actively procuring a third generator for Independent Living. We will continue to provide updates as they become available. 

7/9/24 – 10:45 PM: An additional generator has been hooked up and is fully operational in Independent Living.

7/8/24 – 5:00 PM: Power is out; however, generators are up and running to power portable AC units, phones, oxygen tanks and other emergency needs. There was some water intrusion. Residents affected by water intrusion will be relocated to other apartments in our community. All residents and team members remain safe and secure.
