The Experiential Living concept was developed by Discovery Senior Living to fill a void in our industry. A void that came to be around 2008, when providers collectively were too singularly focused on health care.

We believed back then that the pendulum had swung too far, and in developing the Experiential Living concept, we aimed to deliver an overall lifestyle that would blend health care into the fabric of each community; not have it make up that fabric entirely.

In 2019, Senior Housing News profiled our Experiential model in a feature about “Senior Living 2.0.” That feature went on to discuss our company’s position, which was that the industry as a whole was at a key inflection point where retiring Baby Boomers would radically change the customer profile, and providers that failed to adapt to the needs of these more Independent and lifestyle-focused seniors would be left behind.
